A small Urdu habit you can stick to

It’s easy to make a big plan for learning a language. Half an hour every evening. A notebook. A long list of words. Then Tuesday happens, and you miss a day.

Try something smaller. After your morning tea, spend five minutes with a phrase. Read it, look away and see what you remember. Say it out loud a couple of times.

Choose something that fits your day. If you’re calling family later, practise a greeting. If you heard a word you didn’t understand, ask what it means and write it down.

The next day, come back to that phrase before adding another. If you miss a day, pick it up when you can. You don’t need to catch up on a pile of imaginary homework.

A good first aim is simple: one thing you can remember when a conversation comes along.
